ORLANDO, Fla., May 9 (UPI) -- Britain's Prince Harry said he hopes his mother, Princess Diana, would be proud of what the the Invictus Games has accomplished. "It's a huge shame that she's not here, but I hope she'd be incredibly proud of what we've managed to achieve," the royal said Monday on Today.

The Invictus Games, which started Sunday at Orlando's ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, consists of five days of athletic competition including archery, powerlifting and wheelchair basketball in honor of injured veterans. In April, Dancing With The Stars regular Derek Hough and champion Shawn Johnson were announced as ambassadors for the event.
"Mark my words, you will be inspired, you will be moved, and you will be entertained," Prince Harry announced to the crowd during the event's opening ceremony.
Created by Prince Harry after her served in Afghanistan for the British Army, the Invictus Games will feature 500 men and women competing from 14 different countries. "For me, as long as the venues are full, as long as these guys are enjoying themselves and lives are being changed right in front of you, we can't possibly wish for more,'' he said.
The 31-year-old also discussed his love life with the morning news show proclaiming that at the moment he is still single and not sure when he might have children.
"Everybody's always asking,'' he said. "I have no idea. I don't even have a girlfriend at the moment."
