SANTA CLARA, Calif., Sept. 9 (UPI) -- Bruno Mars may return to the halftime show stage for the Super Bowl's 50th anniversary in Feb. 2016.

According to reports, the NFL has asked Mars -- or Peter Hernandez -- to not only perform as the show's headliner, but to also "curate" the highly anticipated event. There has yet to be any word from Mars or his reps concerning his participation in the show.

The "Uptown Funk" singer broke the then-highest viewership count in 2014 during his memorable Super Bowl XLVIII halftime show performance featuring the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Reportedly drawing 115 million viewers to tune in to the show, Mars' production is now only topped by 2015's headliner, Katy Perry.

Director of media events for the National Football League told Billboard last year landing Bruno Mars for his now iconic Super Bowl XLVIII half time show was one of her greatest accomplishments of the year.

Super Bowl 50 will take place Feb. 7, 2016.
