HOLLYWOOD, Sept. 1 (UPI) -- Actor Tony Todd will join the second season of DC's The Flash to voice Zoom, a mysterious villain.

Todd will make his season debut in episode two, "Flash of Two Worlds." Instead of playing the entire character, Hollywood Reporter reveals the Candyland actor is slated to only cover the villain's voice. It is not yet known who will play the actual "man behind the mask" on-screen -- if he's ever revealed at all.

"Last year, with the Reverse-Flash, we just modulated Tom Cavanaugh's voice, and this year we wanted to do something a little bit different," Flash executive producer Andrew Kreisberg told Variety. "Part of the mystery of the season is who or what is underneath the Zoom outfit, and so we wanted to do something like James Earl Jones as Darth Vader -- this iconic voice coming out of this mask."

"Zoom is like a speed demon," Kreisberg said. "And no one does demon-voice better than Tony Todd."

The wicked role isn't Todd's first with DC Comics. The actor also played Darkseid in Lego DC Comics Super Heroes video games and Icon in Young Justice. Todd played Asteroth in Batman: The Brave and the Bold and appeared in Smallville as Earl Jenkins in the show's first season.
