CULMORE, Ireland, Aug. 7 (UPI) -- Courteney Cox has her future mother-in-law's approval.
The 50-year-old actress recently visited fiancé Johnny McDaid's hometown of Derry, Ireland, and appears to have made a positive impression on his family. Pauline McDaid, Johnny's mother, spoke to the Belfast Telegraph after the visit and told the publication, "We all love her."
Pauline said Courteney "felt at home" on the trip and enjoyed shopping "up the town," spending time with family and an excursion to the seaside. The couple also visited Derry's iconic Peace Bridge to pay their respects to Johnny's father, John Sr., who had a hand in the bridge's installation and died of cancer in 2011.
"[Courteney] is a very empathetic person, so visiting the Peace Bridge was a big thing for her," Pauline shared. "We also went up to the grave, and that was quite, well, as you can imagine ... John is obviously upset that his daddy isn't going to meet her."
"They have only just got engaged but they are head over heels in love," she continued of the couple. "It is lovely to see how happy they are together."
Courteney and Johnny have been dating since late 2013, and got engaged in June. Johnny has been with the band Snow Patrol since 2011, and plays piano, guitar and provides backup vocals for the group. Courteney is currently filming the sixth season of her series, Cougar Town, which premieres in 2015.
