Both Lopez and Obama attended the organization's 85th national convention Thursday to address 1,500 Latino leaders.

NEW YORK, July 10 (UPI) -- Jennifer Lopez and Michelle Obama posed for a close-up selfie together after running into each other at the 2014 LULAC Convention in New York Thursday.

J.Lo shared the photo on her Instagram account around mid-day Thursday under the caption: "Me and my girl @flotus at #LULAC National convention for the empowerment of Latinos." She used the hasgtags: #represent, #keynotespeaker, #introingthekeynotespeaker and #dreambig to label the soon-to-be viral photo.

LULAC -- aka the League of United Latin American Citizens -- seeks to advance the economic condition, educational attainment, political influence, health, and civil rights of the Hispanic population in the United States.

Both Lopez and Obama attended the organization's 85th national convention to address 1,500 Latino leaders.

After the event, the "On the Floor" singer hosted a private screening of her upcoming TV series Los Jets and Obama visited the headquarters of Global Kids, Inc, a non-profit that focuses on global learning and youth development.
