FilmBuff, a New York-based film distributor, has acquired the rights to the upcoming coming-of-age film Affluenza.

The Great Gatsby-inspired movie is "set in an upper class Long Island suburb during the final weeks of the summer leading up to the financial meltdown of 2008," according to IMDb.

The film stars Nicola Peltz, known for her role in the A&E series Bates Motel and the upcoming Transformer: Age of Extinction, along with Ben Rosenfield and Gregg Sulkin.

“We are very excited to be partnering with [director Kevin Asch] and the rest of the team to release Affluenza,” said FilmBuff's head of content Steven Beckman. “Kevin consistently delivers high concept yet entertaining stories and we have been huge fans of his work since first seeing his previous film, Holy Rollers. Affluenza possesses a strong visual style, terrific cast and a dynamic script combining highly relevant issues with a sense of youthfulness that will allow for the film to connect with wide audiences.”

Affluenza will be released in theaters sometime in 2014.
