UsMagazine.com said the "Inception" and "3rd Rock from the Sun" star's brother was a 36-year-old fire-spinning artist and flow arts teacher at Flow Temple Arts School in Venice Beach, Calif. He went by the nickname Burning Dan.

"My super hero brother @burningdan 1974-2010," the 29-year-old actor said via Twitter Tuesday.

"BURNING dAN brightly embodied that bold beastly bliss sometimes referred to as 'the creative spirit.' He would absolutely positively insist that we not let this bad news deter us on our collective mission," Gordon-Levitt added later on his Web site.

NEW YORK, Oct. 6 (UPI) -- Russian singer Oksana Grigorieva, Mel Gibson's former girlfriend, claims there was a time when she thought the Hollywood actor would kill her.

Grigorieva, 40, told People magazine she was holding their baby, Lucia, when Gibson, 56, assaulted her.

"I thought he would kill me," Grigorieva said.

The musician went on to say she taped Gibson's angry phone calls because she feared for her and her child's safety. She also denied leaking the audio to media outlets.

"I needed to document his threats," she explained.

People magazine said Gibson declined to comment on its story.

He has in the past, however, denied allegations he threatened or assaulted her and has said his ex-girlfriend tried to extort money from him.

A source close to Gibson told the magazine the alleged altercation Grigorieva is talking about took place as Gibson intervened when Grigorieva was shaking their baby.

Hurt 'Transformers' extra's family sues

CHICAGO, Oct. 6 (UPI) -- The family of an extra hurt on the set of "Transformers 3" has filed a lawsuit in Chicago's Cook County Circuit Court against Paramount Pictures, records show.

Gabriela Cedillo was hit in the head by a piece of flying metal during the shooting of the movie last month. She can now only mouth words and is unable to walk, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

Her brother Adolfo Romo told the newspaper she is undergoing treatment at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, but her prognosis for recovery is unclear.

The family is seeking unspecified damages in the lawsuit against the movie studio and Ryerson Inc., a Chicago-based metal distributor.

It is "something that certainly should never have happened, something that we believe occurred as a result of carelessness," the Chicago Tribune quoted Cedillo's attorney, Todd Smith, as saying.

"We are all terribly sorry that this accident occurred," Paramount said in a statement Tuesday. "Our thoughts, prayers and best wishes are with Gabriela, her family and loved ones. The production will continue to provide all the help we can to Gabriela and her family during this difficult time."
