Most charges dropped in Foxy case

NEW YORK, Sept. 10 (UPI) -- A grand jury in New York has declined to indict rapper Foxy Brown on three misdemeanor and two felony counts related to an altercation with a neighbor.

The New York Post said she was, however, hit with one misdemeanor charge of violating a protection order. Because the grand jury decided not to charge her with the other offenses, Brown isn't expected to face jail time if convicted of the misdemeanor.

"I always knew I was innocent," the Post quoted Brown as saying outside court this week. "And this is all about jealousy."

The charge stems from an argument Brown had in July with her neighbor Arlene Raymond in Brooklyn.

Raymond accused Brown of hitting her with her BlackBerry mobile device in 2007 and subsequently requested an order of protection against her.

The women had another run-in this summer when Raymond apparently looked at Brown while she was rehearsing at their apartment building, allegedly causing Brown to yell expletives at Raymond, then lift up her skirt and flash Raymond, prompting her to call police.

Meghan McCain recalls initial Palin panic

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 10 (UPI) -- Meghan McCain says she was as surprised as anyone when her father, former U.S. presidential candidate John McCain, announced Sarah Palin as his running mate.

McCain discussed on Tuesday's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" her reaction to her father's decision to run alongside the then-governor of Alaska on the GOP ticket during his 2008 bid for president. The younger McCain was on the chat show to promote her new book "Dirty Sexy Politics."

"(I heard the news about Palin) an hour before I went on stage with her. I think they were scared I would say something or whatever. Like the rest of the country, I had no idea who she was and I was actually crying on the bus on the way to the rally," McCain explained. "And then I found out who she was, and I remember being on stage and distinctly thinking: 'God, let her not have any skeletons in the closet. Please God.' And if you see any video footage of it, I looked panicked."

Asked what her initial reaction was to the decision, she told Leno: "My initial reaction was, 'Who the hell is Sarah Palin?' Like everybody else."

Rep: Jesse James's gal pal not pregnant

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 10 (UPI) -- Kat Von D's publicist is denying online reports claiming the Mexican-born reality television personality is pregnant with her beau Jesse James's baby.

"They've only been dating for a few weeks. She is not pregnant. That's absolutely absurd," her representative told People.com.

James, a celebrity motorcycle customizer who has also appeared on several reality shows, was recently divorced from actress Sandra Bullock after almost five years of marriage. Bullock has since adopted a baby boy named Louis.

'Colin' set for North American debut

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Sept. 10 (UPI) -- The British zombie movie "Colin," which cost $75 to make and was a hit at the Cannes Film Festival, is to have its North American premiere this month.

Walking Shadows LLC said the movie will be shown Sept. 23 at the 13th Floor Haunted House in San Antonio. It is then expected to hit U.S. and Canadian theaters later this month and in October.

Filmmaker Marc Price's new twist on the popular genre is a tale told through the eyes of the zombie, played by 29-year-old Alastair Kirton.

"Price made 'Colin' for around $75 in cash -- spent mostly on a crowbar -- and tea and cookies for the zombies," the film's North American distributor said in a news release Thursday. "He relied on friends and Facebook to cast his legion of undead extras. It took over 18 months and buckets of determination for Price to make the movie on a 10-year-old camcorder that broke during the shoot."

"If our film does anything, hopefully, it will make some 14-year old who wishes to make a movie, say, 'Oh, it's entirely possible, because my mobile phone has a better resolution than this guy's camcorder.' I am excited by the idea of people watching my cheap little film and thinking, 'If this guy can do it, then so can I,'" Price said.
