FLEMINGTON, N.J., Dec. 15 (UPI) -- Tiger Woods's alleged mistress Jaimee Grubbs topped a list of the least sincere U.S. celebrity-related apologies of 2009, HCD Research said.

The results of the roster were based on a series of studies conducted by HCD Research using its MediaCurves.com Web site from January through December 2009, the company said Tuesday.

The studies were conducted among U.S. residents who ranked various celebrity apologies on a scale based on levels of sincerity.

Respondents ranked five celebrities who were featured in news stories tested by MediaCurves.com in 2009. The company did not say how many people took part in the survey.

Grubbs's recent apology to Woods's wife, Elin Nordegren, was ranked as the least sincere.

Regarded as the most sincere is Chris Brown's apology for assaulting Rihanna, followed by David Letterman's sex scandal confession, South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford's apology for his affair and Letterman's mea culpa for an inappropriate joke about Sarah Palin's teenage daughter.
