ROME, Aug. 6 (UPI) -- French actress Catherine Deneuve was booed during a reading in Italy while performing her part in French, witnesses said.
Deneuve was performing at a festival in Tuscany with Italian actor Michele Placido when the incident occurred, Italian news agency ANSA said Thursday.
Organizers offered complimentary tickets to another performance at the festival to patrons angered by Wednesday's performance, the BBC reported.
Deneuve and Placido were reading from George Perec's book "Je me souviens" ("I Remember"), a recollection of post-war memories.
Deneuve starred in "Les parapluies de Cherbourg" ("The Umbrellas of Cherbourg") "Repulsion," "Belle du Jour" and "The Last Metro."
