LOS ANGELES, May 19 (UPI) -- Recording artist Kanye West has pleaded innocent in a Los Angeles court to misdemeanor vandalism, battery and grand theft.

The charges are connected to an altercation West allegedly had with paparazzi last September at Los Angeles International Airport.

The hip-hop star is accused, along with his road manager Don Crawley, of taking a photographer's camera and breaking it on the floor.

People.com said West was not present at last Friday's hearing, but his attorney Blair Berk entered the plea on his behalf.

Crawley has also pleaded innocent to two counts of the same charges. He was accused of damaging the property of a second photographer, as well.

West and Crawley's next court date is July 15, People.com said.
