'City' wins Tribeca audience award

NEW YORK, May 3 (UPI) -- "City Island," a movie about a troubled New York family, has won The Heineken Audience Award at the Tribeca Film Festival, organizers say.

Festival heads said in a news release the movie from writer-director Raymond De Felitta was tabbed as the top movie by audience members Saturday, meaning De Felitta wins a cash prize of $25,000 for his work.

Nancy Schafer, executive director of the annual festival, praised De Felitta's comedy, which stars actor Andy Garcia and actress Julianna Marguiles.

"Raymond is a returning filmmaker who has made a smart family comedy, and we hope that audiences around the world will get to enjoy the film as much as Tribeca audiences have," Shafer said.

"City," which made its world premiere at Tribeca, was to be screened Sunday in New York alongside other festival award winners.
