BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Jan. 12 (UPI) -- "High School Musical" starlet Vanessa Hudgens has auditioned for a key role in the upcoming sequel to the hit U.S. movie "Twilight," a cast member says.
"Twilight" actress Ashley Greene, who will co-star in the horror-romance film's sequel, "New Moon," said Hudgens, 20, has tried out for the role of werewolf Leah Clearwater, MTV reported Monday.
Speaking to the cable television music network after Sunday's 66th annual Golden Globe Awards in Beverly Hills, Calif., Greene said the Disney "tween" idol has auditioned for "New Moon," adding, "I think she'd be great."
"New Moon" producer Summit Entertainment says the movie is scheduled for a November release, and, like "Twilight," is based on a novel by Stephanie Meyer.
