The anonymous source said the "I Kissed a Girl" singer is "regrouping" from her break-up with McCoy, lead singer for the Gym Class Heroes, People magazine reported Friday

"It's a hardship, but she's regrouping," the source said, adding the split occurred after the couple spent the holidays in Mexico.

The source said the breakup happened shortly before New Year's Day, meaning it would correspond to the appearance of song lyrics posted by McCoy on his band's Web site.

The lyrics posted by the 27-year-old singer on Dec. 31, 2008, were from the group's song "Looking at the Front Door," a musical ode to romantic conflicts.

The posted lyrics were also paired with a message from McCoy that appeared to refer to Perry, 24, People reported.

"My laptop is my new (expletive). Loyal. Listens. and never let's me down," McCoy wrote online, complete with incorrect capitalization and punctuation.

Hefner learned about love from movies

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 3 (UPI) -- Hugh Hefner, founder of Playboy magazine, says he first learned about love by watching scores of Hollywood movies as a child.

The 82-year-old magazine icon said movies were his first true love in life and they were the first to offer insights into the world of romance and love, the Los Angeles Times reported on its Web site Saturday.

"Everything I learned about love, I learned from the movies," Hefner said. "The reality is because I was not shown affection, I escaped into an alternate universe, and it came right out of the movies. Love for me is defined almost exclusively in terms of romantic love as defined by the films of my childhood."

Hefner's discussion of the influence of film comes as his life is about to become the focus of a Hollywood work of its own.

The Playboy founder told the Times his hope for the upcoming Hollywood production of his life is that it actually touches on something significant.

"The one thing I would want the film to be is something other than a light comedy, to have something to say and express something about the change in social sexual values," Hefner said.

Winslet diet secret is exercise DVDs

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 3 (UPI) -- British actress Kate Winslet says she has stayed a size 6 movie star through the use of exercise DVDs and adhering to a sensible diet.

The 33-year-old actress, whose newest movie is "Revolutionary Road," said she maintained her slim look without becoming a regular attendee of a gym or health club, People magazine reported Friday.

"I don't go to the gym because I don't have time, but I do Pilates workout DVDs for 20 minutes or more every day at home," Winslet said.

The mother-of-two added that eating right is also a key to keeping a slim figure, especially when facing weight-obsessed members of the entertainment media.

"I still don't believe this craziness for being skinny, but I eat sensibly and I don't stuff down chocolate biscuits," the "Titanic" star said.

People said Winslet's trim build comes as the Hollywood actress is featured in sex scenes in both "Road" and her other new film, "The Reader."
