UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif., Oct. 21 (UPI) -- The shape-shifting toy and film franchise "Transformers" has inspired new theme-park attractions at Universal Studios parks in Hollywood and Singapore.

The attractions are being developed in a partnership formed by Universal Parks & Resorts, Hasbro, Inc. and DreamWorks Pictures, Universal said.

The attraction will fuse 3D-high definition media, special effects and robotics with a ride system that "will transform perceptions of theme-park experiences," the company promised.

The rides are to open in early 2011, first at Universal Studios Singapore and then at Universal Studios Hollywood.

"'Transformers' will be a jewel in our collection of world-class rides based on great movies,"

Tom Williams, chairman and chief executive officer of Universal Parks & Resorts, said in a statement. "We're thrilled to be collaborating with Hasbro, DreamWorks, director Michael Bay and the film's executive producer, Steven Spielberg, who has been responsible for so many of our signature rides and attractions."

Spielberg serves as creative consultant to Universal Parks & Resorts and has worked closely with the company in the creation of popular attractions such as "Jurassic Park -- the Ride" and "The E.T. Adventure."
