No Globes show, but stars still get swag

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 9 (UPI) -- Hollywood stars will still be offered the luxury goods and services that come with a major awards show, even though the Golden Globes ceremony was canceled.

In light of the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike and the picket line it would bring, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which hands out the Globes, has decided to announce the winners of its awards at a press conference Sunday.

Nonetheless, A-list stars and top media personalities will be invited to The Secret Room, an exclusive luxury gifting suite where celebrities will be able to pick up free swag like designer clothes, jewelry, cosmetics, accessories and even mink eyelashes.

They will also be offered free vacations, beauty treatments such as teeth whitening and Botox, as well as cosmetic surgery, doggy day care and the chance to race a real stock car at the Irwindale Speedway, the owners of the gifting suite said in a statement.

The suite will be open Jan. 10 and 11 at a private location in Brentwood, Calif.
