Ne-Yo suing R. Kelly tour promoter

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 2 (UPI) -- Singer/songwriter Ne-Yo has filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles against concert promoter Rowe Entertainment, alleging breach of contract.

The recording artist is suing the firm for violation of the right of publicity and unfair business practices after he was dropped from R. Kelly's "Double Up" concert tour after only two performances, MTV.com reported Wednesday.

In the lawsuit, Ne-Yo asked for about $735,000, the remainder of what he claims he was promised in an oral agreement before he was dropped from the tour in late November, the report said.

Ne-Yo and his representatives said the oral agreement was not formalized in writing before the tour started because they were waiting for insurance information before signing the documents, MTV.com said.

Leonard Rowe of Rowe Entertainment has said Ne-Yo was booted from the tour because he lacked a fully executed contract.
