Weiland denies DUI

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 4 (UPI) -- Rock star Scott Weiland denies he was driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs during a recent accident in California's San Fernando Valley.

The frontman for Velvet Revolver and former Stone Temple Pilots singer was arrested after crashing his car and failing sobriety tests last month, the California Highway Patrol said in a statement issued to People.com.

No one was hurt in the accident.

Arrested for DUI and booked at the Van Nuys jail, Weiland refused to take a blood or urine test and was released after posting $40,000 bail, authorities said.

The singer, who has battled drug and alcohol addiction for years, has not been formally charged by the Los Angeles city attorney's office.

A representative for Weiland told Usmagazine.com: "Scott Weiland was recently involved in a minor accident in Los Angeles and denies he was driving under the influence. He voluntarily took a Breathalyzer test which the defense believes registers well within the legal limit. He is anxious to get to court on Dec. 13 and clear this matter up."
