'Spamalot' productions swap leading ladies

NEW YORK, Oct. 9 (UPI) -- The New York and London productions of the musical, "Monty Python's Spamalot," plan to trade leading ladies this winter.

Marin Mazzie, who is now starring on Broadway as The Lady of the Lake, will join the cast at the Palace Theatre, trading roles with her West End counterpart, Hannah Waddingham, on Jan. 13, representatives for the show have announced.

Waddingham will make her debut on the Great White Way at the Shubert Theatre on the same date.

Mazzie was last seen on stage in the West End in Michael Blakemore's production of "Kiss Me Kate" at the Victoria Palace Theatre in 1999.

She earned an Olivier Award nomination for Best Actress in a Musical for her performance.

The West End production of the Tony Award-winning musical celebrates its first anniversary on Oct. 17.
