Wildcatter demolished in Arlington

ARLINGTON, Texas, Oct. 3 (UPI) -- The Wildcatter thrill ride at Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington has been demolished to make way for a new attraction.

Formerly known as the Texas Cliffhanger, the free-fall ride has been dropping thrill-seekers 128 feet for the past 25 years. Six Flags said more than 17 million people rode the Wildcatter over the years.

It was leveled Tuesday afternoon, using six pounds of shaped-charge explosives, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram has reported.

The ride was razed to make way for the park's new roller coaster, Tony Hawk's Big Spin, which is scheduled to open next spring.
