LONDON, Sept. 25 (UPI) -- The British record label representative for the rock group The White Stripes said an alleged Meg White sex tape making the rounds on the Internet is a fake.

While several blogs and Web sites identified the woman in the pornographic video clip as the band's drummer, NME.com declared it a sham Monday.

The group's U.K. label also denied the woman in the video is White.

"We as a label believe some people have a very twisted sense of humor and this prank is in particularly bad taste," a representative said. "The tape circulating on the Internet as featuring Meg White is fake. It's definitely not Meg."

The White Stripes recently canceled a planned tour because Meg White is reportedly suffering from acute anxiety.
