Stars clamor to work with De Niro, Pacino

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 4 (UPI) -- Hollywood stars are lining up to work with “Godfather” icons Robert De Niro and Al Pacino on their latest project, "Righteous Kill,” Zap2it.com said Tuesday.

Although the actors both starred in Francis Ford Coppola's 1974 mob saga, "The Godfather Part II," their characters are separated by time and don't appear together on-screen.

They did, however, co-star in Michael Mann’s 1995 crime epic "Heat."

In their new film, the Oscar-winning actors will play veteran detectives on the trail of a serial killer.

Brian Dennehy, John Leguizamo, Dan Futterman and Trilby Glover are set to co-star in the big-screen drama alongside Rob Dyrdek, a professional skateboarder.

Carla Gugino, 50 Cent and Donnie Wahlberg are among the actors previously attached to the film, which was written by "Inside Man" scribe Russell Gewirtz.

"Up Close and Personal" and "Red Corner" director Jon Avnet is set to helm the movie, which is expected to begin shooting this week in Connecticut and New York.
