NEW YORK, Aug. 28 (UPI) -- The sister of slain celebrity Nicole Brown Simpson won't appear on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" because of developments concerning the book, "If I Did It."
O.J. Simpson says his book is a hypothetical recounting of the double slayings of his ex-wife, Nicole, and her friend, Ron Goldman. Goldman's family recently won rights to the book and plans to publish it, a move Denise Brown opposes.
Simpson was acquitted in the slayings but found liable in civil court.
Brown was to be on the show Sept. 13 with Fred and Kim Goldman. It was unclear whether the Goldmans will still appear on the program, Publishers Weekly reported Tuesday.
"I very much wanted to be on the show if I could have brought about a change for the positive but the Goldmans" and others involved in publishing of the book "have made sure that could not happen," Brown said in a statement.
Beaufort publisher Eric Kampmann told Publishers Weekly he’s convinced he is doing the right thing in publishing it because the book contains new information and "the first-person narrator, O.J. Simpson, (is) not getting a dime for it."
