LOS ANGELES, July 27 (UPI) -- A Los Angeles court commissioner Friday sentenced "Simple Life" star Nicole Richie to four days in a Los Angeles jail for her DUI arrest in December.
In addition, Richie was sentenced to three years' probation, fined $2,048 and ordered to attend a 21-day alcohol-education program following her guilty plea to the charge, MTV.com reported.
Richie is to report to jail no later than Sept. 28 to serve her sentence, which originally was five days but was reduced to four, after she was given time-served credit for six hours she spent in jail in December -- when she was arrested after driving the wrong way on a Los Angeles freeway and failing a sobriety test.
Richie received a warning from the court commissioner, who told her if she had an accident while driving drunk and killed someone as a result, she would be charged with homicide because she also had a DUI conviction in 2003.
