Rapper Foxy Brown's trial delayed

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., June 18 (UPI) -- The misdemeanor trial of rapper Foxy Brown scheduled to start Monday in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., has been delayed.

Brown is being charged with battery and resisting arrest stemming from an incident at Pembroke Pines beauty store on Feb. 15, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported.

Police claim that Brown, whose real name is Inga Marchand, spat on the store's owner after he asked her to leave because the store was closing and got into a fight with a police officer in the parking lot.

Brown's attorney said her actions were justified because the owner barged in on her in the bathroom and the officer used excessive force.

The store's owner has filed a civil suit against Brown in Broward County court. The trial has been re-scheduled for Sept. 24.
