McCartney's 'Memory' to air at Starbucks

SEATTLE, May 17 (UPI) -- Music fans can hear Paul McCartney's "Memory Almost Full," the first album released by Hear Music, by visiting a Starbucks June 5, the Seattle company said.

More than 10,000 Starbucks shops in 29 countries around the world will participate in a "Global Listening Event" by playing the album in stores all day across all time zones, the company said Thursday in a news statement.

"Customers from Taipei to Topeka have the opportunity to experience this extraordinary album all within a span of 24 hours," said Ken Lombard, president of Starbucks Entertainment who oversees the day-to-day operations of Hear Music, Starbucks music label.

In addition, McCartney fans can participate in a video tribute honoring the ex-Beatle's 65th birthday. On June 5, film crews will be at 10 designated Starbucks locations around the world -- London, New York, Berlin, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Seattle, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Miami -- where fans may deliver a birthday message to McCartney.

The video will air June 18, McCartney's birthday, through a online venues, Starbucks said. More information, including store location and recording requirements, is available online at www.hearmusic.com.
