Six to receive broadcast pioneer awards

LAS VEGAS, Feb. 16 (UPI) -- Six U.S. broadcasters will be honored for their work in the industry with the Broadcasters' Foundation Pioneer Awards.

The award recognize broadcasters for their impact in shaping the broadcasting industry.

The awards will be presented during the 2007 Pioneers Breakfast in April during the National Association of Broadcasters convention in Las Vegas, Radio&Records.com said.

Named as broadcast pioneers were James Babb, retired president/CEO of Jefferson-Pilot Communications; Gary Chapman, CEO emeritus of LIN TV Corp.; California radio entrepreneur Bob Fox; Radio Ink Publisher Eric Rhoads; Sorenson Broadcasting president/CEO Dean Sorenson, and California-Oregon Broadcasters President Patricia Smullin.
