Sutherland: '24' film, series can coexist

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 10 (UPI) -- Offering one of the first hints of a highly-anticipated feature length "24" film, series star Kiefer Sutherland said the TV show and Hollywood can coexist.

The 40-year-old actor, who plays Counter Terrorist Unit agent Jack Bauer in the hit Fox series, said that while the format of a film would vary from its TV counterpart, the two will be able to exist together, IGNFilmForce reported.

"I actually believe that the film and the show can actually coexist and for quite some time," said Sutherland, who added the film will come out of the series' continuity.

Sutherland also claimed that despite tighter time constraints forcing the film to break from the series' real-time format, the film would maintain the excitement of a season of "24."

"We would have three months to make a two hour (movie). Just to have that kind of time to really allow our cinematographer and our director and the writers to focus on such a finite thing, and actually be able to do a film that really has a conclusion, I think would be really exciting not only for us to make but I think for an audience as well."
