Akon: Houston record may tell her story

LAS VEGAS, Dec. 6 (UPI) -- Speaking at the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas, rapper Akon said singer Whitney Houston's new album may offer an insight into her troubled life.

The rapper, who is collaborating with Houston for her new album, said he has been urging the 43-year-old singer to tell her side of her recently publicized divorce through her music, "Access Hollywood" reported.

The "I Will Always Love You" star's marriage to singer Bobby Brown has been the subject of much media gossip, as has been Houston's divorce filing in October.

"I feel like if she embraces that part of her and brings all that stuff into the records, I think it'll be huge because people wanna hear that story," Akon said. "From what people been hearing outside in the press -- he said/she said, I think if it came from her, and people actually heard it coming out on a record I think it would be huge."

Akon said that in addition to working hard on her record, Houston has also been physically preparing for the release.

"She's doing great," the "Lonely" star said. "She's in the gym, she's moving around and gaining some weight."
