MELBOURNE, Nov. 17 (UPI) -- The Make Poverty History concert in Melbourne, Australia, saw performances from Pearl Jam, Jet, Paul Kelly, Eskimo Joe and more concerned artists.

The event brought 14,000 people to the Myer Music Bowl and was broadcast live on giant screens to thousands more in Melbourne, Brisbane and two major Victorian regional towns, Geelong and Bendigo, Billboard.com reported Friday.

The concert was held two days before start of the of the G20 summit, in which political and financial officials from 19 countries, the European Bank, the World Bank and International Monetary Fund will meet to discuss global and domestic issues.

Among the speakers at the concert was U2's Bono.

"Politicians all have to do what you tell them to do: scream it from the mountains," Bono called out, before he and The Edge joined Pearl Jam for a cover of Neil Young's "Rockin' in the Free World."
