CARACAS, Venezuela, Nov. 12 (UPI) -- Venezuela is set to host Latin singing superstar Shakira at an air force base that was a focal point of the failed coup attempt against President Hugo Chavez.
Shakira -- whose agents sent a letter to Chavez requesting a venue for a performance in the Venezuelan capital -- will perform at La Carlota Air Force Base, Globovision TV reported Sunday.

La Carlota was where many Chavez opponents gathered in April 2002 thinking the president would soon be flown out of the country.
Chavez, however, returned to power just two days after the coup led by Venezuelan military leaders.
