Jane: More blood for 'Punisher' sequel

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 19 (UPI) -- Despite the less-than-stellar U.S. box office performance of "The Punisher," its star Thomas Jane has promised a bloodier cinematic sequel is on its way.

The 37-year-old actor, who starred as the title character in the 2004 film about a Marvel Comics superhero, has said that the film's upcoming sequel will offer its viewers a bloodier version than before, IGNFilmForce.com reported.

"The script comes in a couple of weeks and it's going to be darker, bloodier and more unfriendly than the first one," Jane said of the in-development film.

Jane also offered a scoop on the upcoming cinematic interpretation of horror icon Stephen King's novella "The Mist" from director Frank Darabont, the Web site said.

"The script (for 'The Mist') is done," Jane, who also had a role in the 2003 Stephen King-adapted film "Dreamcatcher," told IGNFilmForce.com. "It has been for a bit now, and it looks like it might be over at Dimension, so there's your scoop!"
