'The Queen' coming to the U.S.

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 24 (UPI) -- "The Queen," a new film that chronicles the events inside Buckingham Palace in the days after Princess Diana died in Paris, is coming to the United States.

The drama will hit theaters in limited release in New York Sept. 30 and in Los Angeles Oct. 6, "Entertainment Tonight" reported Thursday.

Helen Mirren plays Queen Elizabeth, who must deal not only with the family crisis but also the crisis of confidence by the public in her own abilities to serve as monarch.

Directed by Stephen Frears, the film also features James Cromwell as Prince Philip and Michael Sheen of "Underworld: Evolution" as British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
