NBC facing suit over alleged harassment

NEW YORK, July 23 (UPI) -- Former "Law & Order" employee Sharon Burke is suing NBC over allegations she was fired after rejecting a female producer's sexual advances on a Hollywood set.

The Emmy-winning makeup artist claimed that after refusing the sexual advances of the show's production manager, Jamie Crowell, she was falsely accused of stealing at the end of that season's shooting and fired, the New York Post said.

"She told me about her sex life, things she did with her husband, and she asked me about my sex life," Burke said.

Burke's husband, cameraman Terrence Burke, was also fired from the show at the same time as his wife. Both had been with the series for 10 years, the Post said.

As part of her Manhattan suit, Burke, who won an Emmy for her work on "Pee Wee's Playhouse," is seeking $1 million in punitive damages.

NBC officials say Burke's allegations are entirely untrue.

"We believe that these claims are without merit," an NBC spokeswoman told the Post.
