Ashcroft found drunk at youth club

MELKSHAM, England, June 22 (UPI) -- Singer Richard Ashcroft has been fined $146 for being drunk and disorderly at a youth club in Melksham.

The 34-year-old singer was arrested early Monday at the Bridge Centre Youth Club, where 60 kids were attending its under-12 night, the Mirror reports.

Ashcroft -- the former lead singer of the band The Verve, and father of two -- was released from the Melksham police station and issued the fine.

Since he split from his former band, Ashcroft has released three albums -- including this year's "Keys to the World," the paper said.
