Moore quietly working on 'Sicko'

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 2 (UPI) -- Incendiary filmmaker Michael Moore seems to have disappeared into thin air, but that doesn't mean he is idling away, Daily Variety reports.

The maker of "Fahrenheit 9/11" previously announced he was working on "Sicko," an expose of American healthcare industry -- but the last mention of the project on his Web site was Dec. 23, 2004, and calls to Moore and his reps by Variety went unanswered.

Variety cited reports saying Moore has gone stealth -- planting hidden cameras in doctors' offices -- since he can no longer march announced and unrecognized into buildings owned by major corporations to confront executives.

An early draft of the 2006 business plan for the Weinstein Co. has "Sicko" rolling out in September, Variety noted. The Weinstein plan projects $40 million in U.S. box office receipts for Moore's next go-round.
