OSLO, Norway, Dec. 1 (UPI) -- A Norwegian film director has said she doubts author J.K. Rowling really wrote the hit "Harry Potter" series of books.
Director Nina Grünfeld wrote in Aftenposten this week that she finds Rowling's rags-to-riches story too good to be true and speculated the name is merely a pseudonym.
"Is it possible that J.K. Rowling exists?," she wrote. "Well, who do they think they're kidding? Not me!"
The director speculated the "Harry Potter" books may have been produced by a string of hack writers -- similar to the "Nancy Drew" mystery series for young readers.
She went on to write the truth behind "Harry Potter" would not be revealed "until the actress behind J.K. Rowling gets tired of her role and not until the real authors behind the pseudonym feel an enormous need for recognition."
