Wilson pulls out of 'Mitty' role

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 31 (UPI) -- Paramount Pictures' on-again, off-again remake of the 1947 "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" is apparently off again.

The project starring Owen Wilson is "in turnaround," Paramount said, which The Hollywood Reporter translated to mean it's pushed to the back burner.

Sources told The Reporter the main problem was a female lead to star opposite Wilson. Although Scarlett Johansson was reportedly interested, Wilson pulled out of the film after Paramount failed to fill the still vacant role.

Paramount denied losing Wilson over the female lead snafu and cited "creative differences" for the project's demise, The Reporter said.
