Forbes lists highest-earning dead celebs

NEW YORK, Oct. 27 (UPI) -- The late King of Rock 'n' Roll held his crown for the fifth consecutive year atop Forbes magazine's list of the highest-earning dead celebrities.

Elvis Presley, who died in of a heart attack at age 42 in 1977, brought in $45 million last year, Forbes said. The bulk of the Presley estate was sold by his sole heir Lisa Marie Presley for an estimated $100 million.

The second-richest celeb no longer walking among us is "Peanuts" creator Charles Schulz, who made $35 million, followed by former Beatle John Lennon at $22 million.

Artist Andy Warhol was No. 4 at $16 million and No. 5 was Theodore "Dr. Seuss" Geisel at $10 million.

Rounding out Forbes' Top 10 biggest heavenly earners were: Marlon Brando; Marilyn Monroe; "Lord of the Rings" author J.R.R. Tolkien; former Beatle George Harrison and country legend Johnny Cash.
