Billboard hands out '05 Touring Awards

NEW YORK, Oct. 27 (UPI) -- Irish rockers U2 won three 2005 Billboard Roadwork '05 Touring Awards including top tour, top draw and top single event.

Clear Channel Entertainment was named top promoter, Jam Productions was top independent promoter and William Morris Agency was named the best in its category during the Billboard ceremony at New York's Roosevelt Hotel Wednesday night.

The Bonnaroo Music Festival in Manchester, Tenn., won the top festival award while the top package tour honor went to the combination of Kenny Chesney, Gretchen Wilson, Uncle Kracker and Pat Green. The year's top small venue tour was Bruce Springsteen's Devils & Dust. Billboard's breakthrough act was country's Rascal Flatts.

New York's Madison Square Garden was named best arena and the top amphitheater award went to the Tweeter Center for the Performing Arts in Mansfield, Mass. The House of Blues Chicago was named best U.S. club.

The Dave Matthews Band was honored for its philanthropic effort with the Roadwork '05's Humanitarian Award.
