Franz Ferdinand singer pens food column

LONDON, Sept. 23 (UPI) -- Franz Ferdinand singer and former chef Alex Kapranos is writing a food column for The Guardian, a British newspaper.

The Glasgow, Scotland, native's "Soundbites" column will feature reviews of regional fare as the rock band wends its way around the world, MTV.com reports. The group kicked off its tour in Chicago Tuesday and winds it up in Italy right before the year's end.

"Over the last couple of years, the group has taken me around the world two and a half times," Kapranos wrote in his inaugural column. "Sometimes I eat appallingly, sometimes phenomenally."

He added, however, "I never eat predictably."
