Missy Elliott to have surgery on tendon

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 20 (UPI) -- Hip-hop star Missy Elliott is scheduled to undergo surgery this week for a torn Achilles tendon.

Elliott tore the tendon while rehearsing for TV Guide's Emmy party, MTV.com reported. The star performed on crutches Sunday and was reported to be in good spirits and resting, MTV said.

It wasn't revealed what day or where the surgery would be performed, nor how long the singer would be laid up after the operation.
