Amazon.com sells short stories for cents

SEATTLE, Aug. 22 (UPI) -- Internet retailer Amazon.com Inc. is selling short stories from popular authors for 49 cents per download.

Amazon Shorts are stories from 59 authors ranging in length from about 2,000 to 10,000 words, the Wall Street Journal reported Monday.

Buyers are able to either read the story on the Web, download and print a copy, save it in a digital locker or send the story to an email address.

"Big Fish" author Daniel Wallace hailed the new program, telling the journal it was a way to introduce his writing "to a lot of people who under normal circumstances wouldn't have the opportunity to see it."
