Study indicates U.S. radio alive and well

LOS ANGELES, July 13 (UPI) -- Despite all the new technology floating around, U.S. radio is still alive and well, a study indicated.

Paragon Media Research found radio listeners remain loyal, despite satellite radio, digital music players, Internet radio and podcasting, Radio & Records.com reported Wednesday.

When pollsters asked 400 people between the ages of 15 and 64 what they listened to, 97 percent said radio, 52 percent said Internet radio, 38 percent said they burned CDs and 20 percent listened to music via their MP3 players.

" ... The actual listening level of radio, at 97 percent of the population, far exceeds listening to Internet radio, MP3 players, satellite radio and all other new-media listening options," Paragon Chief Executive Officer Mike Henry told Radio & Records.

How many people actually listened to satellite radio was not given, but 82 percent of the respondants told Paragon they had heard of the service.
