TORONTO, June 28 (UPI) -- Pop singer Avril Lavigne has accepted a proposal of marriage from fellow Canadian musician Deryck Whibley in Europe, Us Weekly reports.
Publicists for both performers confirmed Whibley, 25, and Lavigne, 20, agreed to marry Saturday, as Lavigne was wrapping up her "Bonez" European tour.

Whibley is the frontman for multi-platinum punk-pop group Sum 41, who previously dated 24-year-old Paris Hilton.
The magazine said he and Lavigne have been acquainted for some time, but only began dating in early 2004, and they have purchased a home together in Los Angeles' Bel-Air neighborhood.
