Magazines scrap over Zeta-Jones photos

LONDON, May 19 (UPI) -- While Catherine Zeta-Jones has been paid off and bowed out, two British magazines continue legal wrangling over publication of her wedding photos.

Zeta-Jones sued Hello! Magazine for running photos of her wedding to actor Michael Douglas in New York, as she had negotiated an exclusive contract with rival OK! magazine.

Hello! was ordered to pay Zeta-Jones $25,000 for breach of privacy and breach of commercial confidence, but Britain's High Court threw out claims for $1.8 million in damages and another $1.8 million in legal costs to OK!

A statement from OK! publishers Wednesday said the fight wasn't over and an appeal would be filed, the Western Mail reported Thursday.

"This decision will impact on all publishers with exclusive rights as it means rivals will be free to run spoilers with no redress in law," the statement said.
