ATLANTA, April 11 (UPI) -- An all-star lineup will appear in a two-hour comedy special "Earth to America" on TBS, the cable channel announced Monday.

The line-up will feature such stars as Tom Hanks, Steve Martin, Will Ferrell, Cameron Diaz, Ben Stiller and Ray Romano in what producers described as "an evening of comedy, music and message to raise awareness of issues concerning the environment." The show will also feature Jack Black, Larry David and several sports stars and musical performers.

"Earth to America" will be taped Nov. 17 during The Comedy Festival at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas and will be later telecast on TBS.

Laurie David will be the special's executive producer, along with Pat Tourk Lee, John Moffitt and Bob Crestani. The program's writing team will include Eli Attie ("The West Wing"); Scott Carter ("Real Time with Bill Maher"); Greg Daniels ("King of the Hill"); Scott Jacobson, Jason Reich and Steve Bodow ("The Daily Show with Jon Stewart"); Adam McKay ("Anchorman"); George Meyer ("The Simpsons"); Phil Rosenthal ("Everybody Loves Raymond"); and Mike White ("School of Rock").

"Comedy can be a very powerful tool to entertain and to educate," said David, "and that is the goal for 'Earth to America.'"
