Royal wedding souvenir business booming

LONDON, April 5 (UPI) -- The sale of tea towels, mugs, spoons, key rings and fine china tied to the wedding of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles has been booming.

Despite the wedding date change from Friday to Saturday, there are markets for both. Some people want to buy wedding souvenirs with the April 8 date because they believe the items may yield a higher price in the future, while some believe the April 9 date will bring more future cash.

However, Eric Knowles of the BBC's "Antique Roadshow" and "The 20th Century Roadshow," says most buyers are likely to be disappointed

"It's panic buying out there. It's the world gone bonkers," he said. "The idea of buying something for $18 or $38 and thinking that in a few years it will be worth $56 -- well, there are better ways of making money."

Knowles suggests those wishing to profit from royal wedding memorabilia should choose a quality item, because the engagement was short and high-end items may be in limited supply.
