'Children' leads Daytime Emmy nominees

NEW YORK, March 2 (UPI) -- "All My Children" led the field with 18 Daytime Emmy nominations announced by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Wednesday.

The long-running ABC show was nominated for Outstanding Drama Series, along with "As the World Turns" (CBS), "General Hospital" (ABC) and "The Young and the Restless" (CBS).

"General Hospital," "Guiding Light" (CBS) and "Sesame Street" (PBS) had 13 nominations each.

"The View" and "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" had 11 nominations each, including Outstanding Talk Show. The other nominees in that category are "Live with Regis & Kelly," "Dr. Phil" and "Soap Talk."

"Jeopardy," "The Price Is Right" and "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" were nominated for Outstanding Game/Audience Participation Show

The academy will present its Lifetime Achievement Award to Merv Griffin, long-time host of "The Merv Griffin Show" and creator of "Wheel of Fortune" and "Jeopardy." Griffin has been nominated for 32 Daytime Emmys and has won 10.

The 32nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards will be presented in ceremonies May 20 at New York's Radio City Music Hall, to be televised live by CBS.
