HOLLYWOOD, Jan. 23 (UPI) -- The Producers Guild of America has picked "The Aviator" as its top feature film of 2004, Daily Variety reported Sunday.
The guild has awarded producers Michael Mann and Graham King the Darryl F. Zanuck Producer of the Year award for the Miramax/Warner film starring Leonardo DiCaprio and directed by Martin Scorsese.
The movie about Howard Hughes topped Miramax's "Finding Neverland," Disney/Pixar's "The Incredibles," Warner's "Million Dollar Baby" and Fox Searchlight's "Sideways" in ceremonies Saturday night at Culver Studios.
HBO took three of the television awards, with "The Sopranos" winning for drama series, "Curb Your Enthusiasm" winning for comedy series and "Angels in America" for longform.
Warner Bros.' syndicated "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" won in variety and CBS's "The Amazing Race" won for non-fiction.
The producers' award, based on voting by the group's 2,000 members, puts "The Aviator" among the top contenders for the Best Picture Oscar award since many PGA voters are Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences members.
